NHL games tonight

So we have 2 games on tonight in the NHL. Calgary Flames are at the Nashville Predators and we also have Montreal Canadiens at the Vegas Golden Knights.

Calgary Flames v Nashville Predators

Watch the game on NHL TV

For tonight’s game the Preds are expecting Filip Forsberg back, he has missed the last 6 games due to a lower body injury. The Preds have been on a good winning run of late with 4 wins from 6 and outscoring opponents 16-3 in the process. Pekka Rinne also will be expected to start in net for the Preds, he has been on a run of 2 shut outs. Mark Jankowski is due to return also for the Flames.

I’m expecting the Preds to take this one at home to continue their good run and a potential high scoring game. The Flames are on a 5 game road trip and have yet to win after 2 games with a regular time loss and OT loss. The game starts 8pm ET USA and 12am GMT UK and can be watched on NHL TV or Premier Sports

Montreal Canadiens v Vegas Golden Knights

Watch the game on NHL TV

Tonights game at the T Mobile Arena will see Nate Schmidt return along with a debut for Alex Tuch who plays after injuring himself in a pre season game. The Golden Knights have won 6 of their last 9 games and I see them extending this winning run at home against an average Canadiens team who are playing after beating the Coyotes last night so fatigue could play a part in the performance tonight from the Canadiens. The game starts at 10:00pm ET USA and 2am GMT UK and can be watched on NHL TV

Enjoy the games tonight and see you all tomorrow πŸ™‚

Crazy moves

Well we had 2 players doing crazy moves to create crazy goals in the space of 24 hours. Firstly we had Nils Hoglander do his lacrosse style goal from behind the net then Andrei Svechnikov managed to do the same. Check the goals below and you tell us what you think is the best goal from the 2.

Change of heart :)

Well, after some consideration and thinking along with friends saying to keep the blog going I have decided I am going to keep it going and make some changes to the site do a few things different and stick to just the NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins and Cardiff Devils news. So watch this space πŸ™‚

Whilst we are here check last night’s result from the Penguins v Flyers

No time to blog anymore

It’s been fun blogging πŸ™‚

Well I have been away from blogging for at least a month maybe longer and it’s not out of choice unfortunately. I changed my job in September and since then I have hardly had any time to blog anything anymore. I used to have a lot of time before to do it and enjoyed it a lot but now that time has gone I cannot do it and it seems pointless to blog late in the evening when you would have already seen results, news etc on other sites in the daytime so at some point the website will be closed down unfortunately. I’m sad to let this go but it makes complete sense. I have had a lot of views etc since starting it but to get it off the ground I had to spend on getting traffic to the website and long term I would end up losing money in the end as I wouldn’t get the numbers to justify the spend on marketing. I do have other plans though to maybe push on with in the new year so look out for them. I thank everyone that viewed and visited the website over the past year and I hope you enjoyed it like I have. I’m sad to see this go but it all started as a project and I didn’t think it would go further than that, so I’ve done better than first thought. I will always love ice hockey and will always have something to do with the sport in some form. I wish you all the best in the future and thank you so much. Hockeyman66 πŸ™‚

The NHL is back tonight!

Can the St Louis Blues go back to back?

So the wait is over hockey is back in the NHL! To most of us the summer can be quite boring without our NHL hockey fix and it drags so we end up just watching NHL Network to feast on news or highlights and what’s to come in the new season ahead, but that wait is over and to be honest since that win in Boston for St Louis in game 7 to take the Stanley Cup I have no idea where all the time has gone as here we are awaiting the first puck drop of the new season. We have had loads of trades and contract rumours. We start tonight with the following games

Ottowa @ Toronto – 7pm ET USA

Washington @ St Louis – 8pm ET USA

Vancouver @ Edmonton – 10pm ET USA

San Jose @ Vegas – 10:30pm ET USA

There’s 4 interesting games right there and the pick of the lot will be the Capitals v the Blues the last 2 Stanley Cup champions up against each other. The San Jose and Vegas game should be another good one with the battle of the West Coast in Vegas. There’s also the Vancouver and Edmonton game both Canadian teams looking to get the win in a big derby game. It’s going to be an interesting season ahead and you can be sure hockeyman66 will be here to help you along the way to get news etc straight to your screens. So buckle up for the ride and enjoy what’s ahead.

I’m looking forward to seeing my team the Pittsburgh Penguins play with their new players and roster with the changes they have made I think it’s going to be an exciting season if the new players gel. They are a work in progress but I think the changes have been made for the good and I see them getting better throughout the season ready to peak towards the playoffs.

Devils have a great weekend home and away

Devils beat Coventry at home

So the Cardiff Devils started their weekend off with a win at home against Coventry Blaze in the Challenge Cup. The Devils went behind 1-0 at first in the 1st period but got the scores level after 14 minutes on the power play to take it tied into the 2nd period. The Devils had a great 2nd period as they managed to get 3 goals in 62 seconds to run away with the game and take it to 4-1 going into the 3rd period. The 3rd period was a lot quieter and only the single goal to take it to 5-1 and a very good victory from the Devils. It was a near sell out on Saturday along with the new standing section on trial which went really well as the fans chanted and drummed all game to spur the Devils on and be great fans that they are. So well done to the organisation and the fans with that. See highlights of the game below.

Coventry Blaze highlights

Onto Sunday’s game now in the EIHL. The Devils had to face Sheffield Steelers away on Sunday in the league and they managed to get a hard fought win. The first period was full of action but somehow managed to stay scoreless. The Devils managed to take the lead after 28 mintues but were then brought back level by the Steelers after 35 minutes. The Devils managed to take the lead again in the 3rd period to only be pegged back again 2-2 by the Steelers. The Devils managed to get the winning goal with 6 minutes remaining on the power play to take the game 3-2 and end a good weekend for the Devils. See highlights below.

Over 3 months without skating and hockey :(

Next time I dance I’m gonna be like this πŸ™‚

Well there’s not much to write about today around the world of hockey so I thought I would just feel sorry for myself as it’s been just over 3 months without putting a pair of skates on. All the travelling and then busting my knees at the wedding I attended in France doing some dance moves has left me ice free all this time. It’s been so frustrating not being able to skate or do anything. Hopefully another 2 weeks and I can get back to skating and go from there. I hope you all have had a good week, not long now til the NHL season starts now, the preseason games have been good and also Cardiff Devils have been doing well and hopefully they can keep it up, they are at home tomorrow evening. I will have more updates etc on that tomorrow hopefully. So enjoy your weekend everyone and see you tomorrow.

Anyone seen my gum shield? I think I might need it πŸ™‚

Cardiff Devils Red Army Travel for away games

For those not aware the Cardiff Devils organisation has a setup called Red Army Travel which is for the fans to all go together on a bus to away games. The whole setup is for everyone to muck in together along with giving that vital away support the players need to get the big WIN! and do the following:

  • Get the fans to away games
  • Raises money for snacks and drinks for the away games
  • Gets the players apartments ready on arrival at the start of the season

This week they will be travelling to Sheffield on the Sunday and will be leaving early and should be back at a decent time also so it shouldn’t be a late one.

Cardiff Devils lose both games over the weekend!

Cardiff were outplayed at home!

Unfortunately I never got chance to do much over the weekend with the blog as I was busy so I will do a rundown on the weekends games in today’s blog. The weekend started with a crushing 6-2 defeat to the Glasgow Clan on home ice! The Devils took the lead in this game on a power play after 12 minutes but were pegged back with just over minute played to be level going into the 2nd period 1-1. The 2nd period was one to forget for the Devils as they surrendered 3 goals in 3 minutes for the Clan to lead 4-1 at the end of the period. The 3rd period carried on where the 2nd ended and the Clan extended their lead again with a goal in the 47th minute to make it 5-1. The Devils did manage to get an immediate reply to make it 5-2 but the Clan managed to get an empty net goal with 3 minutes remaining to take the game to 6-2 and at the final buzzer they came away from Cardiff with the win. See below’s highlights of the game.

Challenge Cup loss caps a bad weekend for the Devil’s

Devils couldn’t stop Coventry from Blazing!

Onto the Challenge Cup now where the Devils played Coventry Blaze and the Devils were down 2-0 at the end of the 1st period, their discipline wasn’t good in the 1st as they gave away silly penalties. The 2nd period didn’t go well either as they went down 3-0 with a goal from a former Devil’s player in Drew Scheistel. Coventry went 4-0 up by the end of the 2nd period giving the Devil’s a mountain to climb in the 3rd. The Devils did manage to pull a goal back in the 3rd but it wasn’t enough to get going as the Blaze goalie Jamie Phillips played well in net! The Blaze managed to get an empty net goal to make it 5-1 and take the win and end a poor weekend for the Devil’s. The Devils still top their group and will hopefully get revenge next Saturday in Cardiff.
